We have had another lovely stay here, such a homely feel every time we come. We had another BBQ as the weather has been lovely. Look forward to our next trip here. Lots of love The Peters Family, Southend on SeaThe Peters Family
Back again for another lovely stay. We have always said it would be lovely to have the whole family over and make use of the BBQ so we phoned Jenny and asked if we could and she said yes. Thank you so much as we were able to get the whole family together which has not happened in a while and we all had a fantastic day. Thanks again. Ps - See you soonThe Peters Family, Southend on Sea
Dear Jenny, My mum and I have had a wonderful relaxing couple of days at the lodge. We wish we could stay longer! The welcome goodies on arrival were most welcome and greatly appreciated. The lodge is one of the nicest self catering properties we have ever stayed at and with so much to see in the area, we hope to return. We recommend 'The Woodbridge Inn' in Coalport for a fantastic meal in beautiful surroundings. Many thanksLucy and Jenny
Thank you Jenny for making us feel so welcome, the cottage is a delight and very homely. We've absolutely enjoyed our stay in this area. See you next year!Sarah & Paul / Helen & Nigel
Lovely cottage, lovely area, really enjoyed our stay. Hope to come again.Andy & Josie, Jan and Steve
What a delightful discovery, thank you for creating a wonderful setting for a relaxing break. The little extra touches, the friendly welcome, the stunning grounds and the location made for a lovely home away from home break. Great value. We look forward to returning in the future.Jacky & Neil, Sallyann and Gary & 2 greyhounds
Thanks once again for a lovely comfortable stay. Also for the thoughtful welcome pack and extra bits on the 2nd week. Weather could have been better but the lodge was lovely with everything you could want. It was lovely sitting in the sun for 30mins on a couple of days. Very relaxing and peaceful. Look forward to seeing you again in September.Jane and Lou
Thanks for a lovely stay in this lodge. Highly recommend to family and friends. Everything you could want and more, would come back. Thanks again!Emily and Alan
What a lovely house to stay in, within a stunning setting. Amazing to think what has been achieved looking at the photos of the ruin it was. We would have loved to see more photos of the school house in its heyday and to learn more about the history of the estate. We had every comfort here and felt really welcome. A marked contrast to a precious stay in Shropshire in a B&B. The food supplied were very nice and much appreciated. Thank you for a lovely week.Harrier Family
Another lovely short break - simply a wonderful building and so carefully restored. A big thankyou for the essential supplies too! Can't wait to come again!Chris & Maria
Thankyou for a lovely stay in the school house once again. We have loved every minute of it. Thanks for your help and loan of the chair. We really appreciated the welcome hamper and wine. It is a lovely place in a beautiful setting and can't wait to stay again. Thank you once again and see you and the dogs in September.Lou and Jane
My husband and I along with another couple flew from California to spend an entire week visiting the Ironbridge area. While there, we stayed at the Lodge at Marnwood. It was fabulous!Mary Doll
We wanted to stay in a vacation rental (aka self-catering) so that we had flexibility – we didn’t want the B&B breakfast regiment – and we wanted some place where we could feel at home and relax in the evenings after a full day of sightseeing. We also wanted to be out of the hubbub of the main tourist area of Ironbridge, and Marnwood is a short 2 minute drive (or 15 minute brisk walk) from the Bridge itself. Marnwood fit all of our requirements and exceeded our expectations.
The cottage was renovated from an old building on the property, and the owner/hostess, Jenny, and her family did an outstanding job. The cottage has heated floors, and the baths have European-style bath/shower combinations. The two en-suite bedrooms gave each couple privacy, and the kitchen was well-equipped. It was a luxury to get up and eat breakfast any time we wanted to. There is even a washer/dryer available, perfect for us as we were staying a whole week and we were traveling light.
When we arrived, the Lodge was immaculately clean, and our hostess had already stocked the refrigerator with eggs, milk, bread and a bottle of wine. The Lodge is located right next to the road leading into the Ironbridge area, but the traffic is such that it never bothered us. The Marnwood property where the Lodge is located is beautiful, a working farm, and there were horses and sheep and fields of buttercups. There is an outdoor sitting area in back of the Lodge, but unfortunately we were never able to use it as the weather didn’t cooperate.
Staying an entire week afforded us the time to see 9 out of the 10 Ironbridge museums, visit Attingham Park and Wenlock Priory, and take a ride on the Severn Valley Railway. As visiting Americans, we were looking for something with English charm but also with a few creature-comforts and conveniences. Marnwood was perfect for us, and, again, exceeded our expectations. We would happily go back there again if we ever have the opportunity.
We planned for months our trip to England, We cannot adequately express how much we enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It turned out better than we expected! We had the experience of staying in and English cottage but with modern conveniences. The bedroom ensuites were perfect for two couples travelling together, the kitchen had everything we needed and the location was close to town but out of the way. Many thanks for a fantastic stayJudy and Mike
Thank you very much for another lovely stay. Just when we needed to recharge our batteries. The boys loved all the dogs! Hopefully next time we'll be able to bring Tippi to meet them :o) Thank you again for such a lovely cottage. So cost with lots of thoughtful little extras.Nick, Rachel, Edward and James
An enjoyable experience, rather than the nightmare we were living in (after flood) we will remember this time fondly. Marnwood and your family are a credit to you and your husband! - ThanksJen Robert's & Family
Had a wonderful time at the lodge, beautiful setting and fantastic accommodation. We can see why you have won so many awards. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. The Gray Family
Fantastic stay, don't want to go home! Thankyou very much for the wine beer, eggs, milk and bread. Would come back tomorrow, thank you so much!Jodie, Chris and Sophie
Dear Jenny, we had a lovely time and I had a lot and I mean a lot of fun playing with Gizzy. We walked to the meadow twice and it was very nice. We recommend you going there. The Jacuzzi in both houses were nice and the beds were very comfortable. We want to stay longer but we have to go. Hope to come again, from SophieJodie, Chris and Sophie
We loved staying in the Lodge and School House. Thank you for the warm welcome and the food & wine left for us - a lovely touch. The houses are fab and we loved the area too. Hope to be back God Bless You - Thanks againMark & Sarah
We only stayed for 2 nights, but can honestly say it's been a lovely break. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Visited Blists Hill & the RAF Museum at Cosford, both were great, but as the only cost at RAF Cosford was £3.50 for parking, it's well worth a visit. We loved Ironbridge, very pretty, had a really nice meal at the Half Moon Inn and can highly recommend it. We will definitely return some time in the future for a longer stay. So much to do and see in this area.Phil & Alison Spencer
Just Perfect. The lodge is lovingly cared for and really well equipped for a self catering stay. Just the ticket for a weekend break, wished we could have stayed longer. Many thanks for your hospitality.Mary, Anne and Terry
Thank you for the lovely warm welcome (from your lovely dogs too) and the hamper was a lovely surprise and would love to know where you got the wine from. This is a lovely, warm, comfortable and luxury place to stay and I don't want to go home to Whitley Bay as I love the countryside and Ironbridge & Telford is where I was born and lived until the age of 15The Mattison Family
What a magical, peaceful, beautiful place to live in (which we have) the more you explore the grounds, the more you will find - paradise! I advise anybody staying to take advantage of the walks across the road along the river fishing, to the walks through the grounds, woods and beyond. The fields became limitless and so did our time here having vacated our house after a flood! I already live in Telford, we discovered it all over again. Thank you for the memories we will never forget. Thank you for the childhood memories and hapy days with the dogs. We will never forget you or marnwood. The Roberts Family
This is just such a tranquil house of peace and quiet after our recent troubles. We had a fantastic new year here and would definitely return. Thankyou for everything.Smiths
Had another lovely stay for the 3rd time. Always made welcome and got to see the two lovely dogs again. Can't wait to come back again. Thankyou so much.Peters family
This really is a home from home and has been for us to use for seven weeks. It's not just a place that makes a welcoming stay but the people and Jenny you really are an inspiration. No job to big or small, helpful, caring & understanding. We will never forget!Sarah & John
We always look forward to staying at Marnwood and again not disappointed. We love the peace and tranquillity and this year the weather has been an added bonus!Jen & Peter
A wonderful place quite the nicest self catering accomodation we have experienced. Thank-you very much!Peter, Barbara & Family
Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday..The lodge was the perfect base for our exploration of castles and garden trails far and wide! The boys delighted in getting very muddy and exhausted during the days and then warming up in the 'jacuzzi' bath in the evening. The wonderful shower was a hit with Nick and I too - just what you need to wake up! A perfect cottage for a young family, nice play space outside and in. Lovely, cosy and warm. The boys were also delighted with our trick or treat visitors! Thank you very much Jenny, hopefully we will be back!Nick, Rachel, Edward & James
Lovely lodge, lovely area, for October lovely weather and finally lovely hospitality. A most enjoyable break!John, Gwen & Pete
